Call 911 or go to the ER instead

Some symptoms need a hospital emergency room, not urgent care. If you notice any of the following, call 911 or go to the nearest ER right away. Do not drive yourself if you are having trouble.

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
  • Signs of a stroke, remember FAST: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911
  • Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
  • Severe or uncontrolled bleeding
  • Sudden severe headache, confusion, or fainting
  • Head, neck, or spine injury
  • Severe burns or a deep wound
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
  • Pregnancy complications or heavy bleeding
